KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT

Private slab or public right-of-way? Check before work.

A mailing address does not tell you who owns the concrete you want to lift. Sidewalks, approaches and other public frontage may fall under a different authority than a private patio or floor. Check the parcel and the responsible road authority first, so your questions reach the right office.

01

Why separate pavement ownership from the mailing address?

Public sidewalks, drive approaches and other right-of-way work can involve a different authority from a private patio, garage or interior floor. Two slabs on the same property may be handled differently. Confirm the actual parcel and the responsible road authority before assuming any approval path, and do not infer an exemption from a city name alone.

02

Where do local questions start?

City versus County responsibility depends on the address, so confirm it before you submit questions.

03

Does the city program cover a private leveling quote?

  • Mishawaka runs a city-administered curb and sidewalk replacement program, which is a separate process from a private leveling job.
  • Contact Engineering to learn whether a property qualifies and what the current process requires.
  • Do not assume an independently arranged lifting job qualifies for reimbursement. The program is administered by the City.
