KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT

Why has the concrete become uneven?

Settling fill or erosion can leave a slab uneven, but the visible height change does not establish its cause. Describe what changed and any water you have noticed. Those observations give an assessor a useful starting point without assuming a diagnosis.

01

What can contribute to settlement?

  • Underlying fill can settle over time, leaving support voids beneath the concrete.
  • Soil erosion can also remove support, allowing a slab to move.
  • A visible crack or uneven joint is a symptom, not proof of the cause.
  • It is not a structural foundation diagnosis, and a visible joint alone cannot establish one.
02

What should be assessed together?

  1. Record which slabs are affected and where the unevenness appears.
  2. Note how the condition has changed over time, with dates or photos if you have them.
  3. Share any water observations and how neighboring surfaces meet the slab.
  4. Have the actual support, concrete condition and repair goal assessed before choosing lifting or replacement.
03

Does lifting fix every underlying issue?

No. Lifting does not automatically repair drainage, pipes or a structural foundation. If an assessment finds those concerns, ask for them to be identified and scoped separately, so each problem is handled on its own terms rather than treated as a routine lift.
